New Series. Sort of. Something for Tuesdays.
What do You think Love is? Love is elusive. Powerful. Different. Strange. Needed. Painful. Essential. Burning. But what is it?
At its core. At its heart. What is Love?
"Everybody's Looking for Love. Oh. Oh."
"Can Anybody find Me Somebody to love?"
- Queen
I'm lucky to have a great earthly Father - seriously, he's brilliant - and so I don't have the same struggle to identify God as Father that some do. But it is always good to be reminded - by the saints singing around you, by the croaking and tentative sounds of your own singing, and even by the words on a screen - of the truth of who God is .
And God is Father (and Son, and Holy Spirit). And this is a good thing. Who we are as Christians - even who we are as humans, in some sense - comes from who God is. These lyrics, I think, make that helpfully clear:
You're a Good, Good Father
It's who you are are, it's who you are, it's who you are
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am
I've seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we're all searching
For answers only you can provide
Cause you know just what we need
Before we, we say a word
But I know we're all searching
For answers only you can provide
Cause you know just what we need
Before we, we say a word
You're a Good, Good Father
It's who you are are, it's who you are, it's who you are
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am
You're a Good, Good Father
And I'm loved by you
You are perfect in all of your ways
Perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us
Perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us
You're a Good, Good Father
It's who you are are, it's who you are, it's who you are
Check back next week for something else, a song, a picture, a quote or something else, which is teaching me what Love is. But what do you think? Does this resonate with your understanding, belief, experience, or conviction of what Love is? I'd love to hear your thoughts - particularly around that ever-hard-to-define/experience/understand notion of God as Father
