Today I'm excited to be sharing a great guest post, that is in the form of a new song! It comes from my friend (And cousin by marriage) Josh Lucas, who wrote it for a competition. You can vote for this song if you like it, having listened to it, here. First though, have a read of the lyrics, and enjoy the rich biblical imagery and the story behind Josh's song.
Oh, and here's a picture of Josh with a guitar, so you know he's a real person/worship leader. It's also in front of a few books, so I appreciate that.
You Knew Before
Creation
You knew before all of
creation
Your great plan, our
salvation.
Your last breath, death was
defeated.
Raised to life, in glory
seated.
When we stand in the presence of our Lord
We'll be holy and blameless in His sight,
Without blemish and free to worship God,
For all the days of our everlasting life.
When we were dead in sinful
nature,
Made a foe of our Creator.
Still you came with
reconciling
Pow'r to save, your love
abiding.
We will stand in His kingdom singing, 'Holy, Holy.'
We will live in His presence shining, glory, glory.
We will sing of His grace forever, 'Worthy, Worthy.'
We will shout, we will sing
His praise.
'Once you were alienated from
God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has
reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in
his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.'
– Colossians 1: 21-22
This became my favourite bible verse after an amazing
bible study on a camp several years ago. The few verses before these two
describe Jesus, the image of the invisible God, as the one by whom everything
was created and who holds everything together. From the most minute atom to
everything in the billions of light years that make up our incomprehensibly
enormous universe, he created it all and has held it all together since the
beginning and is still doing so right now as you read this.
And yet, even before he did all that, he had a plan.
He thought of his people, his beloved bride, and he already knew what he was
going to do. It wasn't a back up plan made up when Eden didn't work out, it was
his plan before all of creation.
The one who created everything stood before
men and seeing their wickedness and rebellion died for them. He saw their
terrible sins, he's seen our terrible sins, he has seen everything you have
ever done, everything you have ever thought.
Yet, as he died on the cross and suffered the wrath of God he thought of
his people and knew you by name.
Now, through his amazing sacrifice we can stand in
the presence of God, The full, powerful, pure presence of God, and no
accusation can be made of us. We can stand next to the Lord and we will
look white and pure and perfect. That will be our eternal state of being for
evermore, for eternity and nothing and no one can take that away from us.
I wrote this song in the hopes that it may bless
God's people. So, do feel free to share it with anyone/everyone. Listen to it,
think about it, sing it in church if you want to, whatever you like.

I enjoyed listening to this song immensely, and appreciate the depth and thought that have gone in the lyrics. I'm grateful to Josh for letting me Guest-Post it today, and hope you will vote for it over at 'We are Worship'. Thanks for reading!
