Springing Back

Hey internet.

I think it might have been a while.

And there are a LOT of reasons for that.

I will not go into them all here.

But this blog is open.

It is not closed.

And this is a blog post, irritatingly written a bit too much like a certain Rob who rhymes with smell, in which I want to update you.

Well, when I say update you, throw a few thoughts out as I start to blog more regularly. And hopefully more hopefully. And ideally more generously. And a least as orthodox-a-lly. The latter not being a word.

But I digress.

If you know me in real life (Yes, I'm going to go in big on the whole real/digital divide/integration in the coming months) then you've probably noticed that a few things have changed. The relevant ones are that I've started a new job (Digital Marketing Executive at SPCK/IVP), lost some weight (mostly due to parkruns, woop!) and maybe some other stuff I'm not going into at the moment. The flipside to this is that I'm reading more books, writing more stuff, and wondering about what a few things mean. Throughout the process - briefly described as being made redundant at LST, starting the New Year quite radically, being a Consultant (whatever one of those is) for the Mission Theology in the Anglican Communion Project (MTA), and then ending up in a great new job - I've missed blogging, but not felt it has been time to write.

Working for the largest Christian publisher in the UK will mean I'll probably be doing more book reviews - and while I'll try to be honest about IVP/SPCK books, you should take what I write with a pinch of salt. I'm also doing a few academic conferences this year, looking at sport (ha!), being human (obviously) and soonest-of-all 'pre-fall gender relations'. Yep.That. Oh, and I'll be reading books. So, if you haven't given up on this blog, then the vision remains the same: I still think I have something to say. But the motivation has been reset - I want to to be for Jesus, rather than just about Jesus. We sang that brilliant song 'Jesus, be the centre' at small group last night, and it has stuck with me.

Listen to it at the bottom of this post.

In the mean time, though, you might want to read a few things I've written elsewhere in the interim. Over at the MTA website I wrote a reflection on Anna Robbin's brilliant LST Laing Lecture, and offered some thoughts on a new theological dictionary, reflecting on the important observation that 'Theology does not stand still'.

For work, I've written some blogs, and quite a few tweets and facebook posts. Read more about that on my tech blog, which I'm sort of resurrecting.

I also went on a really nice holiday with family to Malta, where I took a lot of pictures of doors. These feature in 'digital marketing', and on my instagram alongside pictures of fruit.

That'll do for now. See you around, internet.
