Back at Momentum this year, whilst being inspired in a main session, I tweeted two of my old blog posts, one about Ending Violence Against Women, and the other about a related campaign, #WeAreMan. Those tweets caught the attention of someone at SPCK, and so I was delighted to recieve an uncorrected proof review copy of a new book by Theologian, Philosopher, and Sociologist, Elaine Storkey. Storkey's latest contribution is the aptly titled "Scars Across Humanity: Understanding and Overcoming Violence against Women". Packed with statistics, theological and socio-cultural reflection, and a sobering but challenging read, 'Scars' was written to coincide with the annual UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November 2015) and represents an excellent primer for those of us who might be aware of the problem, but not perhaps fully clued up or in mind of any kind of solution.

Finally, there are a few things I'd suggest by way of further reading: a powerful book 'Rid of My Disgrace' which offers hope and healing for victims of sexual assault, 'Abortion: Breaking the Silence in the Church' which is a helpful first place to start reading around that issue, ,and a post I wrote about humanity in general: 'When the Image of God is Reduced, Damaged, Broken'. As ever, I'd value your comments, suggestions for further reading, and feedback.
