Introduction and Contributors - The Politics Series

Updated 24/4/15 - all major parties have now had their interviews posted, links below...

As I shared over a recent weekend - thanks for reading, if you did - I'm excited to be hosting some thoughts on Politics and Christian faith from a range of perspectives, ahead of the General Election here in the UK. Ahead of posting the first one - due this week - I thought it would be helpful for us to share the contributors and format for the interviews.

-{ Contributors to The Politics Series }-

The following are giving their own perspective on why and how Christians (and anyone, really!) might think about voting in this year's General Election:

Colin Bloom

Executive Director, Conservative Christian Fellowship

-{ Greens }-

Anthony Smith

Member of the Green Party

-{ An Independent Perspective }-

Christina Summers

Councillor in Brighton

Ian Geary

Board Member, Christians on the Left

-{ Liberal Democrats }-

Claire Mathys,

Director, Liberal Democrat Christian Forum

-{ UKIP }-

Jonathan Arnott

Member of the European Parliament (MEP)

-{ The Questions }-

Each of the interviewees, from across the political spectrum, were sent the following questions, and their pithy, thought-provoking answers have made for interesting reading. We also put word limits, depending on the question, of between 30 and 100 words, to help clarity of thought:

How would you describe your party's political vision in one sentence?

What myth/accusation/misunderstanding about your party most frustrates you?

What one thing your party has done in the last 25 years makes you, as a Christian, most proud?

Is there anything particular in your faith/Christianity which motivates you in your political work?

How did you first get into politics?

Why should people vote and be involved in society?

What is the most most important area/issue in this election?

What two policies/priorities which your party has this election do you want Christians in particular to know about?

In one sentence, why should someone vote for your party on May 6th?

Where can someone find out more about their local -{ insert party here }- candidate?

I hope this introduction has explained what we are aiming for, as well as continued to whet your appetite for the full series. Watch this blog or our social media feeds for updates over the coming weeks. In the meantime, I'd love to connect with you via Facebook, or you can find myself and Johnny on Twitter.
