This morning is my sixteenth 'Tuesday Prayer' post, and today's post is a quote from Andrew Murray. Murray was a South African minister, teacher and author, and the quote is taken from his intriguingly titled book, 'With Christ in the School of Prayer';
“Though in its beginnings prayer is so simple that the feeblest child can pray, yet it is at the same time the highest and holiest work to which man can rise. It is fellowship with the Unseen and Most Holy One. The powers of the eternal world have been placed at its disposal. It is the very essence of true religion, the channel of all blessing, the secret of power and life. Not only for ourselves, but for others, for the Church, for the world, it is to prayer that God has given the right to take hold of Him and His strength”
I really like this quote. There is a good recognition here that prayer is both simple and 'high and holy'. For the child and for the oldest grandparent. And what prayer is is greater; fellowship with God, the essence of true religion, the channel of all blessing. And more! Prayer is powerful and is for us now and in the future. Everyone gets to pray.
But that is just my opinion - what do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.
