This is just the briefest of posts about my experiences over the past month or so, before (hopefully, time permitting!) some longer reflections on each of the components of the last month.
I'm turning into a strange animal - some form of ecumenical evangelical. I say that loosely, but over the past three weeks I spent time at Momentum (Soul Survivor for 20s-30s), Forum (UCCF's leaders training) and JAEC (Church Society's conference for young Anglican Evangelicals). I've had a whale of a time, and since I only vaguely qualify for attendance at each thing, was very much appreciative of the warm welcome I recieved at each!
Those of you who have been reading this blog since its inception, waaay back in 2010 (you might like to read the best of 2011, and 2012, as well as the 'About Me' to get some sense of change!) will be aware that I have come on a bit of a theological/spiritual/intellectual journey regarding the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. The final piece in that puzzle, for the time being, was for me to go and visit Soul Survivor/Momentum, which were two festivals I had rubbished in the past. My wife and I visited Momentum for a couple of days (she's been plenty of times before!) and absolutely loved it. I look forward to blogging more about it soon, even as I will be wiping egg off my face. I was wrong...
Thanks to my volunteering with UCCF Theology Network, helping to support the TN Group in Nottingham, I had a week with UCCF (and around 1000 student leaders!) at the Quinta, for their annual leaders conference. Forum was an interesting week, with some fantastic bible readings from Romans by Terry Virgo, and a wealth of seminars and conversations. I look forward to writing about it soon, especially some thoughts on unity/worship, the 'conversation' I attended about social justice, and Charlie Skrine's excellent unpacking of 1 Corinthians 15.
The final part of this little trilogy of time away with God and his people was the three days I spent at the Junior Anglican Evangelical Conference, organised by Church Society. I was there at the suggestion of some friends, thinking about whether or not I might one day be an Anglican, and it was a really helpful time. Provocative sessions and some great bible teaching (plus the always-great usage of the Book of Common Prayer) made this a really thought-provoking time, even thought it was almost completely different from the other two experiences! I also got a chance to play with the great new NIV Proclamation Bible...
I'm about to (As in tomorrow at the time of writing) about to start my MA (in Mission and Ministry) at St Johns College, Nottingham, so posting may be a little sporadic (read: not often) over the next couple of weeks, but I hope to share the three posts, and maybe a fourth summing up posts, under this tagline, 'Ecumenical Evangelical'. Thanks for reading....

Momentum 2013 - preparing for the first session!
Morning worship with a room full of 1000+ UCCF Family!
(I don't have any photos from JAEC that really work here...)
