Good Morning World.
I'm headed on holiday for a bit soon, but am excited to say that over that time I've been given permission to syndicate some great posts from my friend Luke Geraty, and his great Think Theology blog.
Readers will know that I am part of, and have a great deal of affection for, the Vineyard Movement, specifically the Vineyard in the UK. Readers may or may not know that before I became part of Trent, I was very anti-Charismatic, anti-Vineyard, and so on. What changed was essentially academic study of the New Testament - I became convinced that my posture of cessationism was untenable, I either had to accept and embrace the miraculous, in the New Testament sense, or go down the watered down de-mythologized route. My new position of open but still cautious eventually led me to Trent Vineyard, a Church that welcomes everyone, and seeks the present activity of the Holy Spirit.

My reservations remained, however, until I read the standard history of early Vineyard, Bill Jackson's "The Quest for the Radical Middle", and books like George Eldon Ladd's "The Gospel of the Kingdom", tied to his larger Theology of the New Testament. A very helpful book for me at the time was Simon Ponsonby's superb "MORE", one of my favourite books, and one that I recommend very easily to people with questions about Charismatic Christianity. A final favourite is Ken Wilson and Rich Nathan's "Empowered Evangelicals", which further helped me realise the pursuit of Jesus in the Vineyard.
But anyway.
Stay tuned for the introduction to this great guest series, and posts will go live from next Tuesday or so.
Thanks for reading....
